Pull-Type AN Fuel Dry-Break Quick Disconnect
The JBtuned Pull-Type AN Fuel Dry-Break Quick Disconnect provides a fast, clean way to separate performance fuel-system plumbing without repeatedly unscrewing conventional AN hose ends.
Designed for race cars, engine swaps, removable fuel-system assemblies and other applications where fuel lines may need to be disconnected regularly, the coupler uses internal shutoff valves to close both sides of the connection as the fitting is separated.
The pull-release design allows quick service while helping reduce fuel spillage and unnecessary wear on expensive AN hose ends.
Available in multiple AN sizes with 6061 aluminum bodies, black anodized finish and broad fuel compatibility.

What Is a Fuel Dry Break?
A conventional AN connection must be completely unthreaded whenever the fuel line needs to be separated. Once opened, fuel trapped inside the line can drain from the disconnected ends.
A dry-break quick disconnect is designed specifically for applications where a fluid line needs to be separated repeatedly.
As the two halves of the JBtuned coupler are disconnected, internal valves close the fuel path on both sides of the connection. This helps retain fuel in the lines and reduces the amount of fuel released during service.
Dry break does not mean that every wetted surface will be completely free of fuel. A small amount of residual fuel may remain around the connection, so normal fuel-system safety procedures are still required.
Pull to Release
The JBtuned coupler uses a pull-type release mechanism.
This makes it particularly useful where fuel lines need to be disconnected quickly or where repeatedly accessing and unscrewing conventional AN fittings would be inconvenient.
Compared with a push-and-twist style dry break, the pull-type design provides a straightforward separation method that works well for frequently serviced fuel systems.

Dry-break fittings are particularly useful on vehicles that are serviced, reconfigured or disassembled frequently.

On a race car or frequently serviced vehicle, removing an engine can require several fuel connections to be opened before the powertrain can be removed from the chassis.
Installing dry-break couplers at appropriate service points allows those fuel circuits to be separated quickly while reducing the amount of fuel released from the open lines.
The same approach can be used anywhere a removable fuel-system component would otherwise require repeatedly opening a conventional threaded AN connection.
Stainless-Steel Wire Loops
The coupler includes stainless-steel wire loops that provide convenient handling and pull points for the quick-release assembly.
They can also be used to help support the disconnected halves so the fittings are not dropped onto the ground during service.
The loops should not be treated as an automatic crash breakaway system unless the complete installation has been specifically designed and tested for that purpose.

Broad Fuel Compatibility
The JBtuned Pull-Type Fuel Dry-Break Quick Disconnect is designed for use with a broad range of performance and motorsport fuels.
Compatible fuels include:
- Conventional pump gasoline
- E85 and ethanol-based fuels
- Methanol
- Compatible race fuels
The aluminum coupler bodies are anodized for additional surface protection and are suitable for performance fuel-system applications using these fuels.
The remainder of the fuel system—including hose, filters, pumps, regulators, seals and other fuel-contact components—must also be compatible with the fuel being used.
Bidirectional Fuel Flow
The JBtuned dry-break coupler flows equally in either direction and does not require a dedicated inlet and outlet orientation.
This gives the installer more flexibility when positioning the coupler within a feed, return or other appropriate fuel-system circuit.
The final installation should still place the fitting where it can be safely accessed, properly supported and protected from heat, impact and abrasion.
6061 Aluminum Construction
The dry-break body is manufactured from 6061 aluminum and finished with black anodizing.
The aluminum construction keeps the assembly lightweight while the black finish integrates cleanly with JBtuned and other performance AN fuel-system plumbing.
Pull-Type vs. Push-Type Dry Break
JBtuned also offers a Push-Type Dry-Break Fuel Quick Disconnect.
The pull-type version uses a straightforward pull-release action and is useful where rapid separation and easy access are priorities.
The push-type version uses a different locking and release mechanism and may be preferable where its more compact configuration better fits the available installation space.
Choose the design that best matches the space available and the way the vehicle will be serviced.
Fuel Pressure & Disconnecting the Coupler
Do not disconnect the dry-break fitting while the fuel pump is running.
Fuel-system pressure places force against the internal shutoff valves. As system pressure increases, the coupler may become more difficult to connect or disconnect.
Whenever practical, shut the fuel pump off and safely relieve fuel-system pressure before separating the connection.
The dry break is intended to simplify fuel-line service, not replace proper fuel-system depressurization and safety procedures.
Installation Notes
- Select the AN size appropriate for the fuel-system plumbing being used.
- Install the coupler where it can be safely accessed during service.
- Support the surrounding fuel hoses so their weight does not place unnecessary load on the quick disconnect.
- Keep the coupler and fuel lines away from exhaust components, excessive heat, sharp edges and moving components.
- Do not disconnect the fitting while the fuel pump is operating.
- Relieve fuel-system pressure before service whenever practical.
- Keep both mating surfaces clean when the coupler is disconnected.
- Do not allow dirt or debris to enter either side of the fuel system.
- After reconnecting the dry break, pressurize the fuel system and carefully inspect the coupler and surrounding connections for leaks before operating the vehicle.
Fuel is highly flammable. Installation and service should be performed using appropriate automotive fuel-system safety procedures.
