The Walbro / TI Automotive F90000285, commonly known as the Walbro 525 Hellcat pump, is a high-output 39/50mm in-tank fuel pump designed for high-performance gasoline and E85 / flex-fuel applications.

The "Walbro 525" name is the industry name commonly used for the F90000285. TI Automotive's published performance data rates the F90000285 at approximately 470 LPH at 40 PSI and 13.5 volts.

The F90000285 uses TI Automotive's Dual Channel Single Stage (DCSS) pumping technology and combines high fuel volume with a 112 PSI maximum published system pressure, making it well suited to naturally aspirated, turbocharged and supercharged fuel systems that require substantial fuel delivery.

Fuel Pressure Matters When Choosing a Pump

A fuel pump should not be selected by a horsepower number alone. Fuel type, base fuel pressure, boost pressure, voltage at the pump, injector demand and the rest of the fuel system all affect how much fuel the pump can actually supply.

For example, a return-style system running 43.5 PSI base fuel pressure and 30 PSI of boost with a 1:1 rising-rate regulator requires the pump to operate against approximately 73.5 PSI of fuel pressure.

Fuel-pump flow decreases as operating pressure increases, which is why the pump's complete flow curve and the requirements of the entire fuel system matter.

How Much Horsepower Can the Walbro 525 Support?

TI Automotive currently publishes horsepower reference figures of 650 HP low and 985 HP high for the F90000285. These numbers should be treated as general pump-selection guidance rather than a fixed horsepower limit.

E85 requires more fuel volume than gasoline for the same power level, and high boost increases the pressure the pump must work against. Make sure the pump is sized around the actual fuel and pressure requirements of your combination.

The optional install kit offered with this pump is not a complete universal Walbro installation kit. JBtuned puts this kit together specifically for use with our fuel-pump hanger modification kits.

A high-flow pump is only one part of the fuel system. Make sure the fuel-pump wiring, electrical supply, filter, fuel lines, regulator, injectors, fittings and seals are all capable of supporting the fuel flow and fuel type being used.
