Honda / Acura OBD1 IAT Sensor Weld-On Flange
The JBtuned Honda / Acura OBD1 IAT Sensor Weld-On Flange provides a secure way to mount a compatible factory-style OBD1 Intake Air Temperature sensor in custom aluminum intake or charge piping.
The CNC-machined aluminum flange duplicates the mounting style required by the compatible two-bolt Honda / Acura OBD1 IAT sensor, allowing the sensor to be relocated from the intake manifold or added to a custom intake system.
This is particularly useful for turbocharged and supercharged Honda builds, custom intake manifolds, charge-pipe fabrication and applications where the intake manifold does not provide the required factory IAT-sensor mounting location.
This flange is designed for the Honda / Acura OBD1-style IAT sensor. Later OBD2 and K-Series IAT sensors use different mounting arrangements and are not a direct fit.

The Intake Air Temperature sensor itself is not included.
Relocate the Factory Honda / Acura IAT Sensor
Many older Honda and Acura applications place the Intake Air Temperature sensor in the intake manifold.
On a modified engine, particularly a turbocharged or supercharged combination, there may be a reason to move the sensor from the manifold into the actual intake or charge-air plumbing.
The JBtuned weld-on flange allows the compatible OBD1 IAT sensor to be securely mounted in aluminum piping while retaining the factory-style two-bolt sensor attachment.
Useful for Turbo & Supercharged Honda Builds
On a forced-induction engine, the temperature of the air entering the engine can change significantly as the air is compressed and then cooled by an intercooler.
Relocating the IAT sensor into the charge-air stream can allow the sensor to measure air temperature at a location that better represents the air being delivered toward the throttle body.
A common installation location is in the charge piping downstream of the intercooler and upstream of the throttle body, but the correct sensor location ultimately depends on the engine-management system, tuning strategy and vehicle configuration.
Follow the recommendations of your tuner or engine-management manufacturer when selecting the final sensor location.
Secure Sensor Mounting in Charge Piping
A boosted intake system operates under positive pressure, so the IAT sensor must be mounted securely and the installation must properly seal against boost pressure.
The JBtuned flange provides a permanent welded mounting point for the compatible Honda / Acura OBD1 sensor rather than relying on an improvised hole, grommet or unsupported mounting method.
Once welded into the piping, the sensor is retained to the flange with two bolts in the same general mounting style used by the compatible Honda sensor.
Custom Intake & Charge-Pipe Fabrication
The flange can also be used when fabricating a completely custom intake system.

The flange is not engine-specific by itself. Compatibility is determined by the IAT sensor being used and the material and configuration of the component receiving the flange.
OBD1 Sensor Compatibility
This product is designed around the Honda / Acura OBD1-style Intake Air Temperature sensor.
That sensor style was used across numerous older Honda and Acura applications and uses a two-bolt mounting arrangement.
Because modified Hondas frequently use engine swaps, ECU conversions and mixed-generation components, verify the physical sensor installed on the vehicle rather than selecting the flange only by chassis or engine family.
If your vehicle has been converted to a different IAT sensor, this flange may not be appropriate.
Not for OBD2 / K-Series IAT Sensors
Later OBD2 and K-Series Intake Air Temperature sensors are not a direct fit for this flange.
Those sensor designs use different mounting arrangements and require an appropriate adapter or weld bung designed specifically for that sensor.
Do not assume that a sensor will fit simply because it is from a Honda or Acura application.

Manifold Heat & IAT Sensor Location
An Intake Air Temperature sensor measures temperature at the location where it is installed.
When a sensor is mounted directly in an aluminum intake manifold, its reading can be influenced by heat transferred through the surrounding manifold, particularly after extended idling, low-speed operation or a heat-soak period.
Relocating the sensor into the intake or charge-air stream can reduce the direct influence of manifold temperature and may provide a measurement more representative of the air entering the engine.
The effect of sensor location varies by vehicle, engine configuration and tuning strategy, so relocation should be considered as part of the complete engine-management setup rather than as a guaranteed performance modification by itself.
JDM & Aftermarket Intake Manifolds
This flange is also useful when installing an intake manifold that does not provide a compatible mounting location for the IAT sensor required by the vehicle's ECU or wiring configuration.
Instead of trying to modify the sensor itself, the JBtuned flange can be welded to a suitable aluminum intake manifold or intake pipe to create a dedicated mounting point.
This makes the flange useful for engine swaps and mixed-component builds where the engine, intake manifold, wiring harness and ECU may not all come from the same original vehicle.
Installation Notes
- This is a weld-on fabrication component and is not a bolt-on adapter.
- The receiving component must be suitable for welding to the aluminum flange.
- Determine the final sensor position and orientation before drilling or welding.
- Position the sensor so its sensing element is appropriately exposed to the intake-air stream.
- Keep the sensor and wiring clear of excessive exhaust heat, moving components and potential abrasion.
- Remove the IAT sensor before welding the flange.
- Keep welding debris and contamination out of the intake or charge piping.
- After welding, inspect the flange and mounting surface before installing the sensor.
- On boosted applications, inspect or pressure-test the completed intake plumbing as appropriate before operating the vehicle under boost.
Professional aluminum welding is recommended if you are not experienced with intake or charge-pipe fabrication.
