Bugatti Veyron BKS1001 E5LM Brushless Fuel Pump & Controller Kit
Commonly known throughout the performance aftermarket as the Bugatti Veyron fuel pump, the TI Automotive BKS1001 pairs the high-flow E5LM in-tank brushless screw pump with its matched electronic fuel-pump controller.
This is a very different pump system from the conventional brushed 255, 450, 525 and 535 pumps most performance builds are familiar with. TI Automotive rates the BKS1001 at 550 LPH at 40 PSI and 1,000+ horsepower, while the matched controller allows the pump to be operated through PWM control rather than simply running at full output all the time.

Horsepower ratings are not a guarantee of what any individual vehicle will support. Actual fuel-system capacity depends on fuel type, fuel pressure, boost pressure, voltage, engine fuel demand, injector capacity, plumbing and the rest of the fuel system.
Bugatti Veyron Fuel Pump Controller / Control Module
The BKS1001 is not just a high-flow pump. The E5LM is a brushless pump designed to operate with its matched electronic controller.
The BKS1001 controller can operate the pump at full output, command a reduced output, or accept an external PWM command to vary pump operation based on fuel demand. That gives a properly configured fuel system the ability to reduce pump output when maximum flow is not needed and bring the pump up as demand increases.

Honda / Acura Fitment Development
With these pumps available in the performance market, the obvious next question for us was: what can we make it fit in?
JBtuned has already seen upper-800-horsepower Honda combinations supported by a single TI Automotive/Walbro 535-class in-tank pump, with dyno results to back it up. That naturally made us interested in what could be done with a 550 LPH brushless pump while still keeping a single-pump, in-tank fuel-system layout.
The physical size of the E5LM is a big part of what makes it interesting. TI Automotive lists the BKS1001 pump body at 39 mm in diameter, which is the same nominal body diameter as the traditional GSS342 Walbro 255. That gives the E5LM much better odds of working in factory-style pump locations than its flow capability might suggest.
JBtuned has been working with the BKS1001/E5LM in multiple Honda and Acura fuel-pump hanger configurations, and we have successfully packaged the pump into several OEM-style hanger layouts. In some applications, fitting the E5LM has actually required less physical modification than installing some of the larger 400- and 500-series pumps commonly used in high-output builds.
The goal is simple: take advantage of the flow capability of the brushless E5LM while retaining a clean, single-pump in-tank installation wherever the hanger and overall fuel-system design allow it.
What Can a 550 LPH Brushless Pump Support?
That is the question that made this pump interesting to us in the first place.
We already know from our own Honda fuel-system experience that a properly configured system using a single 535-class pump can reach into the upper-800-horsepower range. The BKS1001 gives us additional published pump capacity beyond that while staying with a single in-tank pump.
That does not mean installing a BKS1001 automatically creates a 1,000-horsepower fuel system. Pump flow is only one part of the equation. Fuel type, base pressure, boost pressure, voltage, injector sizing, line size, regulator capacity and engine fuel demand all affect how much power the complete system can actually support.
What the BKS1001 gives builders is an unusually high-flow pump in a compact 39 mm package, along with brushless operation and electronic pump control. That combination is what makes it especially interesting for high-output Honda and Acura fuel-system development.
Honda / Acura Fitment
The BKS1001 is not a universal drop-in replacement for every Honda or Acura fuel-pump hanger.
JBtuned has successfully mounted and evaluated the E5LM pump in multiple Honda hanger configurations, but the requirements vary by chassis, hanger design and the rest of the fuel system. Supporting wiring, plumbing and fuel-system components also need to be appropriate for the application.

BKS1001 vs. BKS1000
The BKS1001 is the next generation of TI Automotive's BKS1000 brushless fuel-pump system. Both use the high-flow E5LM brushless screw pump, but the BKS1001 adds significantly more control over pump operation through its PWM-capable controller.
The BKS1001 controller can operate at 100% duty cycle, provide reduced pump operation, or accept an external PWM command for variable pump control. This allows pump output to be better matched to the fuel demand of the engine instead of requiring maximum pump output all the time.
Current Availability
The BKS1001 is not a product JBtuned regularly keeps in inventory. We originally brought these pumps in for testing and fuel-system development, and availability may be limited to occasional new, open-box or used units.
