Product Description
Walbro 255 GSS340G3 High-Pressure In-Tank Fuel Pump - Center Inlet
The Walbro / TI Automotive GSS340G3 is a high-pressure 255 LPH in-tank fuel pump for gasoline-powered performance applications.
Commonly known as the Walbro 255 GSS340, this version uses a compact 39mm pump body with a large centered fuel inlet. That inlet configuration is the primary physical difference between the GSS340, GSS341 and GSS342 versions of the Walbro 255.
Important: TI Automotive classifies the GSS340G3 for gasoline fuel service. It is not the pump to choose for an E85 / flex-fuel system. For E85 or flex-fuel applications, use a pump specifically rated for flex-fuel service.

GSS340 Vehicle Applications
The GSS340G3 is sold as a pump-only component rather than a complete vehicle-specific installation kit. The required inlet filter, mounting hardware and installation components vary by vehicle and fuel-pump hanger.
Historical Walbro application information identifies the GSS340 high-pressure 255 LPH configuration for applications including:
- 1985-1997 Ford Mustang - except 1996-1997 Cobra
- 1989-1997 Ford Thunderbird - including Super Coupe
- 1989-1997 Mercury Cougar - including XR-7
- 1990.5-1997 Ford Escort
- 1990.5-1997 Mercury Tracer
- 1989-1995 Ford Taurus SHO
- 1986-1991 Ford Taurus - selected 18.6-gallon-tank applications without digital dash
- Selected 1984-1990 Chrysler / Dodge / Plymouth front-wheel-drive performance applications
This application list identifies vehicles historically paired with the GSS340 pump configuration. It does not mean the bare pump alone contains everything required for installation. Verify the correct inlet filter, electrical connector and mounting hardware for the specific vehicle before ordering.
Does the GSS340 Fit Honda or Acura Applications?
The Walbro application information we have reviewed does not identify the GSS340 as the normal high-pressure 255 LPH pump for Honda or Acura applications.
Honda and Acura applications generally use the GSS341 or GSS342 inlet configurations instead. For example, older applications such as the EF Civic, CRX and DA Integra use the GSS341-style configuration, while many later EG / EK Civic and DC Integra applications use the GSS342-style configuration.
If you are selecting a Walbro 255 for a Honda or Acura, choose the pump based on the correct inlet configuration and fuel-pump hanger rather than assuming all three Walbro 255 versions are interchangeable.
GSS340 vs. GSS341 vs. GSS342 Walbro 255
The GSS340G3, GSS341G3 and GSS342G3 share the same basic high-pressure Walbro 255 pump family specifications. The major difference is the fuel-inlet location and orientation.
- GSS340G3: Large centered inlet
- GSS341G3: Offset inlet positioned 180 degrees from the outlet
- GSS342G3: Offset inlet positioned in line with the outlet / 0-degree orientation
The correct version depends on the fuel-pump hanger, inlet-filter position and available space inside the tank.
How Much Horsepower Can a Walbro 255 Support?
TI Automotive currently publishes horsepower reference figures of 300 HP low and 550 HP high for the GSS340G3. These figures should be treated as general pump-selection guidance rather than a fixed horsepower limit.
Fuel pressure, voltage at the pump, injector demand, engine fuel consumption, boost pressure and the rest of the fuel system all affect how much power a fuel pump can support.
Fuel-pump flow also decreases as operating pressure increases, so the pump should be selected around the actual fuel requirements of the combination rather than a single horsepower number.
Building Your Own Fuel-Pump Wiring Pigtail?
The GSS340G3 uses the smaller Walbro 255 / 3xx-series electrical connector style.
255 & 3xx Series Fuel Pump Connector Kit
This OE-style connector kit provides the connector components needed to build your own fuel-pump wiring pigtail for the GSS340G3 and compatible Walbro 255 / 3xx-series pumps.
Compare JBtuned Walbro / TI Automotive Fuel Pumps
JBtuned carries several Walbro / TI Automotive in-tank fuel pumps. The correct pump depends on the fuel being used, required fuel volume, operating pressure and the physical pump configuration required by the vehicle.

Before Installing a Higher-Flow Fuel Pump
The fuel pump is only one part of the complete fuel system. Fuel-pump wiring, electrical supply, filtration, fuel lines, regulator and injectors all need to be appropriate for the engine's fuel demand.
The GSS340G3 is classified by TI Automotive for gasoline fuel service. For an E85 / flex-fuel system, select a pump specifically rated for flex-fuel use.
