Designed Specifically for D16Y7 and D16Y8 Engines

The AEM 25-109BK is not simply a generic D-Series fuel rail. It is specifically designed around the D16Y7 and D16Y8 fuel-injection configuration.

    Original Honda applications include:

    • 1996-2000 Honda Civic CX / DX / LX — D16Y7
    • 1999 Honda Civic Value Package — D16Y7
    • 1996-2000 Honda Civic EX — D16Y8
    • 1996-1997 Honda Civic Del Sol S — D16Y7
    • 1996-1997 Honda Civic Del Sol Si — D16Y8

Verify the engine installed in the vehicle before ordering. Honda D-Series engines use multiple fuel-rail and regulator configurations, so the D-Series name alone does not confirm compatibility.

    Three Fuel Pressure Regulator Paths

The AEM 25-109BK can be used with several regulator configurations. Which one makes sense depends on whether you are simply replacing the fuel rail or building a larger performance fuel system around it.

    1. Retain the Factory Honda Regulator

For a mostly factory fuel system, the appropriate OEM Honda fuel pressure regulator can remain in use with the AEM rail.

This is the simplest path when the goal is primarily to upgrade the rail while retaining the original fuel-system architecture, factory-style return system, and much of the existing Honda plumbing.

The OEM regulator is not the configuration JBtuned uses when moving into our larger complete performance fuel systems.

    2. Use the Engine-Specific AEM Adjustable Regulator

If you want an adjustable regulator that mounts in the traditional Honda regulator location on the rail, AEM offers different regulator versions for the D16Y7 and D16Y8:

    • D16Y7: AEM 25-301BK Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
    • D16Y8: AEM 25-304BK Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

The D16Y7 and D16Y8 use the same 25-109BK fuel rail, but they do not use the same engine-specific AEM regulator.

View the AEM Honda / Acura Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and select the version that matches your engine.

This is a good path when you want adjustable fuel pressure while retaining a more conventional Honda rail-mounted regulator arrangement.

    3. JBtuned Larger-System Configuration - AEM 25-302BK

When JBtuned moves into larger feed-and-return fuel systems, we typically use a different regulator arrangement built around the AEM 25-302BK Universal Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Instead of using the engine-specific Honda regulator base, the 25-302BK can be mounted directly alongside the fuel rail using the JBtuned Stainless-Steel O-Ring Boss to O-Ring Boss Adapter.

This creates a compact rail-mounted regulator arrangement while giving JBtuned greater flexibility in how the higher-capacity feed-and-return plumbing is configured.

The JBtuned adapter is manufactured from stainless steel and uses dual O-rings with an adjustable center nut so the regulator can be properly clocked relative to the rail.

This is the regulator architecture JBtuned prefers for many of our larger Honda fuel systems.

Why JBtuned Uses the 25-302BK on Larger Fuel Systems

Physical fitment is only one part of choosing a fuel pressure regulator. The regulator also needs to work as part of the complete fuel system surrounding it.

The AEM 25-302BK is a universal bypass-style regulator with dual 9/16-18 inlet ports, a 9/16-18 return outlet, an auxiliary 1/8 NPT gauge/sensor port, and a 1:1 vacuum/boost reference.

AEM rates the regulator to support fuel flow for racing applications up to 1,000 horsepower.

For JBtuned, the advantage is the ability to incorporate that regulator into a larger aftermarket feed-and-return system without being tied to the factory Honda regulator layout.

That makes it a natural fit when the rest of the system is also being upgraded with larger fuel lines, a higher-capacity pump, aftermarket filtration, and a complete return circuit.

Factory Fuel System or Complete JBtuned Fuel System?

The AEM 25-109BK can work at several stages of a D-Series build.

Keeping most of the factory system? Use the supplied AEM fuel-line connection and retain an appropriate factory or engine-specific regulator configuration.

Upgrading the complete fuel system? The same AEM rail can remain in place while the feed, return, regulator, filter, pump, and chassis plumbing are upgraded around it.

That means the rail you buy today does not have to become a dead end as the car grows.

Building More Than Just a Fuel Rail Upgrade?

A fuel rail is only one component in the complete fuel-delivery system.

Once the rail is upgraded, the next questions are usually:

    • How will fuel get from the tank to the rail?
    • Will the factory fuel filter remain?
    • Will the factory chassis fuel lines remain?
    • How will fuel pressure be regulated?
    • How will the return side be plumbed?
    • What fuel will the vehicle use?
    • Does the existing fuel pump support the final system?

JBtuned offers D-Series fuel systems designed around those different stages of the build so you do not have to piece the complete system together one fitting at a time.

Choose Your JBtuned D-Series Fuel-System Path

Level 1 - Keep the Factory Fuel-System Architecture

If you are retaining the OEM firewall-mounted fuel filter, factory chassis plumbing, and existing return system, start with the JBtuned D-Series OEM Filter-to-Rail Fuel Line.

Level 1 upgrades the engine-bay feed connection between the OEM fuel filter and the AEM rail while leaving the rest of the original fuel-system architecture in place.

This is the simplest path for a D-Series that needs the new fuel rail connected without replacing the entire fuel system.

Level 3 - Clean Up the Engine Bay

If you want to remove the large OEM firewall-mounted fuel filter and upgrade both the engine-bay feed and return plumbing, move to the JBtuned D-Series Fuel Line Tuck Kit.

Level 3 retains the factory chassis fuel lines while replacing the engine-bay plumbing with a cleaner feed-and-return configuration and compact inline filter.

This is a strong next step when the AEM rail is part of an engine-bay cleanup rather than simply a standalone replacement.

Full Tucked Fuel System - Replace the Complete Chassis Plumbing

For builds that have outgrown the factory chassis fuel lines, move to the JBtuned D-Series Full Tucked Fuel System.

This system replaces the fuel plumbing from the tank to the engine and back with a complete JBtuned feed-and-return system.

This is where the AEM 25-302BK regulator and JBtuned stainless ORB-to-ORB rail connection become especially relevant. Rather than trying to make a factory-style regulator architecture support the larger system, the regulator becomes part of the complete aftermarket plumbing layout.

The Full Tucked Fuel System can be configured with 250 Series rubber-core hose for conventional pump gasoline or 350 Series PTFE hose for pump gasoline, E85/ethanol, and compatible race fuels.

Complete Flex-Fuel System - Full PTFE System with Sensor Integration

If the build requires a complete PTFE fuel system specifically configured around an ethanol-content sensor, choose the JBtuned D-Series Complete Flex-Fuel System.

This is a complete tank-to-engine-and-back 350 Series PTFE system designed around ethanol-content-sensor integration and the larger aftermarket fuel-system architecture.

E85-compatible plumbing does not by itself make the vehicle flex fuel. True flex-fuel operation also requires an ethanol-content sensor, compatible electronics or ECU input, engine-management support, proper configuration, and tuning.

Not Sure How Far You Need to Upgrade?

    • Just need to connect the AEM rail: Level 1
    • Want cleaner engine-bay feed and return plumbing: Level 3
    • Want to replace the complete fuel system: D-Series Full Tucked Fuel System
    • Want a complete PTFE system configured around an ethanol sensor: D-Series Complete Flex-Fuel System

You do not need to replace everything simply because you are installing an AEM fuel rail. The goal is to choose the fuel-system architecture that matches what the car actually needs now while leaving a clear path for future upgrades.

    1/2-Inch High Volume Fuel Bore

The AEM 25-109BK uses a 1/2-inch internal fuel bore.

AEM rates the rail to support fuel flow for applications up to 1,000 horsepower and designed the increased internal volume to help dampen fuel-pressure pulses associated with larger injectors.

The fuel rail alone does not determine the horsepower capability of the complete fuel system. Fuel pump capacity, injector size, fuel type, feed and return plumbing, regulator, electrical supply, engine requirements, and tuning must all support the application.

    1/8 NPT Auxiliary Port

The fuel rail includes an additional 1/8 NPT auxiliary port that can be used with a compatible fuel-pressure gauge, pressure sensor, or other appropriate fuel-system accessory.

The port can remain plugged when it is not required.

Works with Stock or Upgraded Injectors

AEM designed the 25-109BK to work with the factory injector configuration while also supporting significantly higher-flow fuel systems.

When using aftermarket injectors, verify that the injectors are physically compatible with the D16Y7/D16Y8 intake manifold and AEM fuel-rail configuration.

    What Is Included?

    • AEM 25-109BK D16Y7/D16Y8 high-volume fuel rail
    • Factory-style Honda fuel-line fitting
    • Fuel-rail installation fittings and plugs
    • Injector O-rings
    • Required installation hardware

Fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator are not included.

    Important Fitment Information

AEM 25-109BK is specifically intended for D16Y7 and D16Y8 applications. Do not assume compatibility with another Honda D-Series engine simply because it belongs to the same engine family.

If you are planning a larger fuel-system upgrade, choose the regulator, pump, feed and return sizes, hose construction, filtration, and other components as a complete system rather than evaluating each component independently.

After installation or modification of any fuel-system component, pressurize the system and carefully inspect every connection for leaks before starting or operating the engine.
