The JBtuned Honda Civic / Integra OEM Fuel Pump Hanger Upgrade Kit upgrades the factory Honda fuel-pump hanger / sending unit for use with high-flow aftermarket fuel pumps and performance AN fuel systems.

A larger external fuel line can only carry the fuel that reaches it. The JBtuned hanger upgrade addresses the system at its starting point by upgrading the in-tank fuel path, feed and return connections, and fuel-pump electrical pass-through while retaining the original Honda hanger.

The current JBtuned design also uses specially produced low-profile fuel connections that maintain a smooth fuel path while keeping the finished assembly compact enough to retain the factory fuel-pump access cover without cutting or modifying the cover.

The Fuel System Starts at the Pump

The outlet of the fuel pump is the beginning of the vehicle's pressurized fuel path. Once fuel leaves the pump, the rest of the system should carry that fuel without immediately introducing an unnecessary restriction.

Simply installing a larger external feed line does not address restrictions that may exist between the pump and that line.

JBtuned has evaluated the outlet configuration of the fuel pumps supported by this kit and configures the in-tank portion of the hanger upgrade around the selected pump. The goal is to provide a clean transition from the pump, through the modified hanger, and into the upgraded external fuel system without unnecessarily reducing the available flow path immediately after the pump.

This is why the fuel-pump hanger is treated as part of the fuel system itself rather than as a separate factory component that the upgraded fuel lines begin after.

Current Low-Profile, High-Flow Design

The JBtuned hanger upgrade has continued to evolve along with our complete fuel-system designs.

The current configuration uses specially produced low-profile fuel connections developed for the packaging requirements of these Honda fuel-pump hangers.

Compact fuel-hanger installations can force the plumbing through unnecessarily abrupt direction changes simply to create enough clearance beneath the factory access cover. The current JBtuned configuration allows the fuel path to change direction more smoothly while keeping the assembly low and compact.

The result is a hanger upgrade that combines:

• Dedicated -6AN return plumbing

Why JBtuned Fuel Systems Start at the Hanger

JBtuned performance fuel systems are designed as complete fuel paths rather than as isolated sections of larger hose.

When a vehicle is moving to a higher-flow fuel pump, larger feed line, upgraded filter, fuel rail, regulator and return system, the transition from the pump inside the tank to the external fuel system is an important part of the overall architecture.

The JBtuned hanger upgrade provides the tank-side foundation used throughout compatible JBtuned fuel-system configurations.

Instead of placing upgraded external plumbing downstream of the original hanger connections, the kit allows the pump, in-tank plumbing, hanger connections and external AN fuel system to work together as a more complete fuel-delivery path.

Upgrade the OEM Honda Hanger Instead of Replacing It

The factory Honda fuel-pump hanger already fits the fuel tank, uses the factory sealing location and retains the original sending-unit architecture.

The JBtuned kit allows that OEM component to be upgraded for a performance fuel system rather than requiring the customer to replace the entire assembly with a costly aftermarket fuel-pump hanger.

This provides a practical way to retain the factory hanger while addressing the fuel and electrical connections needed for a modern high-flow fuel-pump installation.

Fuel-Side Upgrade

The hanger kit upgrades both the feed and return sides of the fuel system.

Fuel Feed:
Select -6AN, -8AN or -10AN depending on the fuel-pump configuration and external fuel system being used.

Fuel Return:
Every configuration uses a dedicated -6AN return.

The feed size should be selected as part of the complete fuel-system architecture rather than by AN size alone. Fuel-pump capability, fuel type, operating pressure, injector demand and the rest of the fuel system all affect the requirements of the vehicle.

Fuel-Compatible In-Tank Components

All fuel-system components supplied by JBtuned as part of the hanger upgrade are selected for use with performance automotive fuels, including pump gasoline and ethanol blends such as E85.

This includes the upgraded in-tank PTFE plumbing and the fuel-system components added during the JBtuned hanger conversion.

The original fuel tank and OEM hanger remain factory Honda / Acura components. Their material condition and compatibility are separate from the compatibility of the new fuel-system components supplied in the JBtuned kit.

The fuel pump and every other component in the complete vehicle fuel system should also be verified for compatibility with the fuel being used.

Upgraded In-Tank PTFE Fuel Plumbing

The kit includes fuel-compatible PTFE in-tank plumbing configured for the fuel-pump group selected when ordering.

This allows the upgraded fuel path to begin at the pump rather than waiting until the fuel reaches the outside of the tank.

The in-tank configuration is selected according to the physical requirements of the supported pump so the customer does not need to determine the correct internal plumbing configuration independently.

Fuel Delivery and Electrical Delivery

A high-flow fuel pump needs more than an upgraded fuel outlet.

Many modern performance pumps can also require substantially more electrical current than the original pump used when these Honda fuel systems were designed.

Every JBtuned hanger upgrade kit therefore includes a two-wire electrical bulkhead that provides an upgraded pass-through for both the positive and negative fuel-pump wiring.

Installation Requirements

This is a modification kit for the vehicle's existing OEM fuel-pump hanger / sending unit.

Installation requires modification of the original hanger to install the upgraded fuel, return and electrical connections. Exact modification requirements vary according to chassis, pump and selected feed configuration.

The current JBtuned low-profile configuration is designed to retain the factory fuel-pump access cover without cutting or modifying the cover.

Professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with fuel-system fabrication, electrical wiring or modification of OEM fuel-pump hanger assemblies.

Fuel-System Safety & Final Inspection

Perform fuel-system work only with appropriate precautions for gasoline, ethanol or other fuels present in the vehicle.

After the hanger has been modified and the complete fuel system assembled, pressurize the system and carefully inspect all fuel connections, seals and electrical pass-throughs before starting or operating the vehicle.

Verify that the fuel-pump wiring is secure, the hanger seals correctly to the tank, the factory access cover installs properly and no fuel lines or electrical wiring are being pinched or placed under unnecessary stress.
